This paper presents a cost-effective solution that provides a means of controlling microcomputers remotely and also enables computer security against intrusion when an authorized computer user is absent. The system is based on SMS technology and provides an ideal solution to computer users and system administrators who are not always at the computer's immediate location but need to carry out basic computer operations and prevent unauthorized access. The Microcomputer Control System (MCS) is built with mobility in mind such that it would provide remote access to a microcomputer while providing security. Hence, this paper proposes a system that allows users to control their computers ubiquitously and also provide security on detection of intrusion by the use of SMS/GSM technology.
